Banana Breakfast Smoothie by Pastels & Macarons #smoothie #smoothierecipes #bananasmoothierecipe #healthysmoothierecipe #drink #drinkrecipe
Being a mum of two very young children I’m always finding that I tend to forget to have breakfast and as we all know and have been told countless times by our parents and health professionals ‘breakfast is the most important meal of the day’. I do find I need to eat in the morning so that my body is fuelled for the day ahead. If I don’t eat my breakfast I tend to find my mood isn’t as good and I’m tired a lot earlier in the day.

I have always loved shakes, juices and smoothies but now more than ever I have taken to making them on an almost daily basis to help me fill my body with nutritious food that I can quickly consume and perfect for me while I’m on the go with my boys.

My all time favourite smoothie is my Banana Breakfast Smoothie. I invented this smoothie a few years back when I was living in Indonesia with my now husband. I found breakfast in Indonesia to be a difficult meal for me because they have a lot of sugar in their foods, their breakfast cereals are not the same as what I am accustomed to and I wanted something filling, nutritious and delicious.

It’s an easy smoothie to make. Most of these ingredients you will have in your cupboard and fridge.

Yum! Have you ever made this without the peanut butter? It sounds good but I’m allergic to peanut butter!

Yes I have Chelsea and it still tastes yummy. If you add a scoop of vanilla protein powder it is also delicious but if you want extra flavour but can’t have the peanut butter add a couple of drops of Vanilla essence. It’s yummy! πŸ™‚ xx

Yum! That’s very different from my banana smoothie — just bananas and milk — seems like a lot more filling. Should try this sometime.

This is just the thing I have been looking for! I assume the oats make it more filling than a standard smoothie? Sometimes I find that smoothies make me more hungry than I was before but I’m searching for a healthy breakfast option at the moment so I’ll give it a go! #TeamIBOT

Haidee! It is very filling and if it’s still not filling enough, add more oats and a couple of scoops of protein powder to it. Trust me you will love it. if you prefer not peanut butter then try just vanilla essence. You can also add baby spinach for a hit of green in your smoothie. This is really a base and you can add and remove depending on your taste that day or what you have lying around. It’s definitely a meal of it’s own. Experiment with the amount of oats you use though, think that will help you to find the right balance so you’re fuller for longer. πŸ™‚

I really need to eat more smoothies. I’ll have to start looking up ideas, but I’ll probably have to make them safe for bub too because no doubt she’ll want to drink mine. She can’t have this one because there’s a few things in it she’s allergic too but I’ll have to find an alternative banana smoothie because it sounds yum.

What is she allergic to Toni? In this smoothie I mean because i know she is allergic to a lot. I would suggest keep the ingredients she is able to have safely and add a few others that you know she isn’t allergic to, to replace the ones you took out. This is a base for creating lots of different varieties. Experiment till you find something that you both can enjoy! x

Thanks Medina, you can definitely make this with a different lot of fruit. Maybe apple or berries and some vanilla protein shake to give it a good boost will be better.
